Registering Your Site(s)
Once you have your website done, you will want to register it with search engines to get traffic to your site. The only way people will know about your website is if you register your site. If you get a phone, no one will know the number unless you give it out or they use directory assistance. Search engines power the people to find your site. For some, there is a charge to submit a site to their search engine. Some will register your pages for free, just not in a timely manner.

You have to decide how much traffic you want and what kind of budget you have. When we first registered with a major search engine, we got about 10,000 hits the first day it was listed on their site. The traffic slowly decreased a little each day, until we were consistantly getting 3000-4000 hits per day. Make sure your webhosting account can handle all the traffic. Some webhosting will close your account when you have reached your allotted traffic for the month, then open it back up on the first of the next month. That is called bandwidth. Once you use up your bandwidth for the month, you are shut down until the next month.

Meta tags are also an important part of registering your site. These are words that you want people to be able to find your site using.

Here are a few tips:

*Don't use the same word over and over! Some search engines will think you are spamming and will reject your submission.

*When listing words, use different variations of the same word. For example, work at home -in addition to listing work at home, also list working at home, works at home, work from home, works from home and working from home. This will allow you more options for when people use the search engines to find you.

*Purposely misspell words that are commonly misspelled. For example, mortgage - in addition to mortgage, also use morgage, and moregage. When potential visitors to your site are typing in their key words, they either may not know how to spell or make a mistake when typing in their search words.

Here are a few sites you may want to register with:

Google, Alta Visa, Yahoo and HotBot.

Other "Work At Home" Sites offer a lot of advertising on their sites for usually a small amount of money. There a several sites to the right to advertise on.
